Laying Bare: The C4E Values

Laying Bare: The C4E Values

[This is a WIP document. We know certain things are missing. But at the end of this exercise, we went to one of the core values you will see here – to ready, fire, aim. And thus, this is live and it will evolve.]

If you’ve ever intended to interact with any of us at C4E, this document is to tell you, in 12 words, who we are. And what we believe in.

You can directly skip to that part, or let us take you through this.

At C4E, our work is our people.

And the credit for this articulation goes to two friends and founders Nikhil and Gokul. At CynLr, they believe that tech is the team. And they’ve operated from that clarity.

When you talk to us, as a collaborator, client, or partner, you’re not talking about or for a piece of work. You are talking to a person who believes in a way of life. A way of life you also happen to find interesting.

It’s what brought us together in the first place. And now, it “forces” us to find some alignment. Actually talk shop. And see if there’s something to do together.

If I were to think about this interaction like a relationship, I’d call it flirting. We both like something we’ve seen. And now, we want to put ourselves in situations to validate those feelings. See kaun kitna paani mein hai.

So far, in our interactions, laying ourselves bare has helped. We like to walk into a room with full honesty of what we like, hate, appreciate, cannot bear, or even what we believe in. And of course, still keep some mystery going.

This document is an attempt to do more of that.

We started with –

Did an exhaustive exercise.

Here are 12 values that define how we work and play.

Ambition. Ambition is subjective, but also contagious. And thus, when you’re in a room with someone ambitious, you can feel it in the way they talk about life.

Bias for action. Hareesh sir once told us, “The wealthiest people and their best ideas ultimately go to the grave.” We want to operate with a bias for action.

Community. Institution > individual. In our case, it’s the C4E Village.

Energy. Think about the most high-energy person you know

Freedom. The freedom of time, money, location. To be able to design a life in our way.

Hardwork > smartwork. Anyday.

Long-term. Quoting Naval, we’re here to play long-term games with long-term people.

Persistence. You stop at nothing.

Reliability. That’s it. That’s the word. And the way to exist.

Respect. Have respect (as a human) for everyone in the ecosystem. And it comes in the action, not in the words.

Sense of urgency. Get started now. Ready, fire, aim.

Trust. In the people around you.

That was all. If you nodded at all (not 1-2 :D) of these, we must talk.
