The Over-Communication Promise
At C4E, we love the idea of Over-Communication. And we promise that we will never ever give anyone a silent treatment. Or ghost them.
This means, we will always close the loop.
If someone from C4E is unable to close loop, please write to Saurabh at sg@c4e.in. And if Saurabh is unable to close the loop, please tag him on Linkedin / Twitter (X).
So, what is Over-Communication?
Simply put, this means that we will communicate even when it’s not needed.
We will talk even if the conversation is awkward. Good things are easy to communicate. It’s the communication with the bad news that tells you more about the person than anything else.
We will be tested when…
- we have to tell someone that we can’t work together
- we have to end a project midway
- we have to ask for money
- we seek inputs or give feedback
In tough situations, we will try and practise radical candor. We will not skirt the issue even in the toughest situations. While it may feel bad or awkward in the short-term, in the long-term, it’s good for everyone to have clear communication. One of our core values is respect, and we believe that communication and overcommunication are necessary ingredients of respect.
So here’s our promise.
You can expect C4E to over-communicate with you at each step in your journey with C4E. As a partner, collaborator, client, talent and even a stranger.
However, please do know that we are human. And this means we will often miss. And when (not if) we do, please know that it’s an act of omission and not of commission.
Like most companies like us (small by design), each human at C4E is juggling multiple balls across multiple timelines. And we often get many many people to write into us for many reasons. While we have a system in place (a form, email, trackers, etc), we’ve realised that it becomes difficult for us to keep track of things. See footnote 1. And this means that some communication may fall through the cracks. And when that happens, we want you to help us and keep us accountable.
So, in case you were hoping to hear back from us (if you’ve applied for a role, if you expect to be paid, if you need anyone or anything specific from us) and you don’t hear from us in 48 hours, I URGE YOU TO PLEASE follow up. If you don’t get a reply on the follow-up, please write into Saurabh at sg@c4e.in. And even if SG doesn’t reply, please tag our social handles. And I hope someone will reply.
So yeah, that!
Over and out.
Footnote 1
We are not making an excuse. We will learn and we will implement a better system as we go along.
Footnote 2
a/ One of our collaborators told us that she didn’t follow up with us because she thought we would be bugged. Our answer is – NO we will NOT be bugged.
b/ Another person told us that they spent 5 days filling in our longish form, and then she didn’t hear anything from us. And she thought it was weird and awkward that for all the big words we use about culture, people and all that, she didn’t hear from us. Again, we didn’t NOT want to communicate. Just that we assumed that we had closed the loop. But we didn’t. And taking a lesson from that, we will do more.
And we will keep this list alive and active to include all the negative stinkers and edge cases that we get!
